Roger has over 25 years’ expe­ri­ence in res­i­den­tial devel­op­ment through the fam­i­ly busi­ness, Robert Hugh­es Lim­it­ed — local lead­ers in the cre­ative re-pur­pos­ing of niche brown­field sites across the South Lakes into desir­able homes.

He spent his teenage sum­mers cut­ting his teeth as a labour­er on barn con­ver­sions before going on to study build­ing man­age­ment. After grad­u­at­ing, Roger worked for a Man­ches­ter-based com­pa­ny spe­cial­is­ing in the con­ver­sion of list­ed build­ings into lux­u­ry dwellings. 

Drawn back north, Roger fol­lowed his father into the fam­i­ly busi­ness, return­ing to site-man­age the re-devel­op­ment of old Lake­land build­ings. As the com­pa­ny grew, he went on to lead the design team and project-man­age numer­ous diverse schemes, coor­di­nat­ing mul­ti­ple sites with up to 150 trades­peo­ple at any one time.

The projects span the re imag­i­na­tion of farms and barn con­ver­sions, Vic­to­ri­an hotels, Arts & Crafts coun­try hous­es, land­mark one-off homes, and a 40-unit lake­side apart­ment development.

In 2022, fol­low­ing retire­ment and a shift in mar­ket forces, we evolved our skillset to become a build­ing con­trac­tor. Beyond our hands-on expe­ri­ence and in-depth knowl­edge of the con­struc­tion process, we can offer expert advice and guid­ance across all aspects of a build­ing project — from archi­tec­tur­al design and plan­ning through to inte­ri­or design and over­all marketability.

We have devel­oped a strong and trust­ed net­work of local trades­peo­ple, con­sul­tants, and indus­try pro­fes­sion­als. Col­lab­o­rat­ing close­ly with archi­tects and design­ers, we deliv­er a ful­ly man­aged ser­vice from con­cept to com­ple­tion, includ­ing mate­r­i­al pro­cure­ment, sub­con­trac­tor man­age­ment, and pro­gramme control.

Our estab­lished rela­tion­ships with the SLDC Build­ing Con­trol Office and plan­ning depart­ments ensure every project meets the high­est stan­dards, giv­ing clients com­plete con­fi­dence in full Build­ing Reg­u­la­tions compliance.
